It follows a beleaguered comedy writer as he attempts to gain approval for his new play from a stubborn government censor devoid of humor. This witty play unfolds in a dystopian setting where laughter becomes an act of defiance.
Written by Richard Harris and adapted from an original play by Japanese writer Kōki Mitani, The Last Laugh premiered in 2007 with notable performances by Martin Freeman and Roger Lloyd Pack. Directed by Nick Bromley, this production features David Tarkenter as the Censor and Matt Wake as the Writer, showcasing their terrific comedic chemistry and timing.
