Set in Sheffield in 1989, "Grandma's Shop" is a heartfelt solo show centered around Hilda, a loveable and eccentric septuagenarian who has spent decades running a second-hand clothes shop to fund her passion for caring for 30 stray cats. When a journalist from The Guardian unexpectedly walks in, the story unfolds, guided by Hilda’s granddaughter. This multi-character comedy drama, created and performed by Julie Flower, explores themes of family history, love, and the rich narratives woven into the fabric of clothes.
Join us as you step into Hilda's whimsical shop filled with old carrier bags, pool coupons, and vintage treasures, all presided over by an unlikely punk icon. This performance serves as a preview for the Edinburgh Fringe 2024, ahead of its debut at the Gilded Balloon.
