The Crew is Assembled! Meet the Cast of Treasure Island

The crew is assembled! We’re delighted to reveal the cast who’ll be setting sail in our brand-new production of Treasure Island this Christmas – bringing together some familiar Tabard faces with two actors making their debut on our stage.

Returning after appearing to great acclaim in last Christmas’s sell-out production of The Railway Children are Christopher Laishley, who takes on one of literature’s most famous pirates, Long John Silver, and Max Pascoe, who leads the adventure as Jim Hawkins.

Also returning is Marissa Landy, last seen stealing the show – flute in hand – in HMS Pinafore. This Christmas she’ll be bringing another scene-stealer to life as the puppeteer behind Silver’s irrepressible parrot, Captain Flint, as well as playing a host of other characters.

Joseph Emms, who recently featured as David Lloyd George in Winston and David, returns as the steadfast Dr Livesey, while two actors make their Tabard debuts: Will Usherwood-Bliss as the enthusiastic Squire Trelawney, and Kieran Seabrook-France as the formidable Captain Smollett.

But that’s only part of the story. With the exception of Jim, our six actors take on multiple roles, coming together as sailors, pirates and more as Robert Louis Stevenson’s adventure unfolds from the Admiral Benbow to the deck of the Hispaniola and the shores of Treasure Island.

Behind the scenes, the production reunites much of the award-winning team behind the Tabard’s Christmas shows. Louise Haddington returns to adapt Stevenson’s classic for the stage, with the Tabard's Artistic Director Simon Reilly directing, Rob Miles designing the set, Alice McNicholas creating the costumes and Nat Green returning as lighting designer.

Joining the team for the first time is composer and sound designer Elliot Mackenzie, creating an original musical and sonic world for Jim’s voyage across the high seas.

Produced in-house by Sarah and Simon Reilly for the Tabard Theatre, Treasure Island follows the team’s previous Christmas productions The Railway Children, The Snow Queen, The Secret Garden and Five Children and It.

Secret maps, mutiny, pirates, buried treasure – and one very opinionated parrot. The adventure begins this December.
