New Handrails Improve Accessibility at the Tabard Theatre
Thanks to the generosity of supporters and members, new handrails have been installed to improve accessibility at the Tabard Theatre.
The Tabard Theatre has completed the installation of new handrails in the auditorium, helping more audience members access seating throughout the venue safely and comfortably.
The project was made possible thanks to the generosity of supporters Harriet Benton and Alan Weavis, who chose to ask guests at their wedding to make donations to the Tabard Theatre in lieu of gifts. Their thoughtful gesture raised the funds needed to deliver the improvement and will help make the theatre more accessible for years to come.
As a small independent theatre operating without regular public subsidy, the Tabard relies on the generosity of its community to help fund improvements such as these. The new handrails are the latest in a series of enhancements designed to improve the experience for audiences while preserving the unique character of the historic venue.
Artistic Director Simon Reilly said:
"We're incredibly grateful to Harriet and Alan for thinking of the Tabard in such a generous and imaginative way. Their support has enabled us to make a real and lasting improvement to the theatre that will benefit many audience members. It is a wonderful example of how community support can have a direct impact on the experience we are able to offer."
The theatre would also like to thank everyone who supports its work, whether through membership of the Tabard Theatre Membership Scheme, making a donation when booking tickets, attending productions, volunteering their time or championing the theatre within the local community.
Every contribution, large or small, helps ensure that the Tabard can continue to invest in its facilities, support artists and audiences, and bring exceptional live performance to Chiswick and West London.
